Sandra Rimkutė-Jankuvienė, assistant professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (P6) and Head of LMTA Music Department, was a guest of the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade (P1) on 17-21 May 2022. During her visit, she realized teaching sessions with workshops on art pedagogy, contemporary strategies in music education and digital technologies in music pedagogy with BA and MA students of modernized study programs at P1.
The teaching included presentation "Exploring the students' voice on music through the collage" given on 19 May at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade to BA and MA students of music pedagogy. In it, Sandra Rimkutė-Jankuvienė shared findings of her research in incorporating students’ voices into the discourse of music education using the collage technique. The analysis of research results showed that students position themselves in music as active learners, particularly stressing out emotional relationship between music and musical activity. Based on these findings, recommendations for improving the quality of music education were debated, such as inclusion of emotional variables into the teaching-learning process, development of practice-based educational strategies, ultimately leading to discussion on ways and approaches of teaching music.
During her visit, Sandra Rimkutė-Jankuvienė also established closer contact with colleagues from the host institution, with arrangements for her next teaching visit in the fall semester of 2022/23.
